Strengthening Families
Brenda Hokianga is the Strengthening Families Coordinator.
Strengthening Families is a structured, early intervention, family/whanau-centred process. At the heart of the process is a family/whanau with strengths but one that is also having trouble coping with life's challenges and requires help from multiple agencies. Strengthening Families brings together the family/whanau and all the agencies that have a part to play in helping that family/whanau achieve its desired outcomes.
Strengthening Families has the following Vision: Children, young people and their families/whanau have the opportunity to reach their full potential and participate positively in society.
The Long-term Outcomes from Strenghtening Families is: The health, education and social outcomes for children, young people and their families/whanau are improved through the Strengthening Families process. They feel stronger, more connected to and supported by their community.
